Parental Engagement

January 27, 2012 in by Mrs G Sangster

As we move into year 2 of Academy life we would like to begin to increase the engagement of parents and carers of our students.  Ensuring that, as we move forward, our parents are well informed and feel valued as part of our Academy community, helping us to support your child.

Within the coming months all communication data will be up-dated to ensure the Academy has relevant landline and mobile numbers and e-mail addresses if applicable.

It is intended that parents and carers will be able to receive letters and messages via our website and e-mailed directly.  Text messages will be used more regularly to ensure that information is received as efficiently as possible.  This will also have a massive effect on the sustainability of

paper-less correspondence, ensuring the Academy becomes a ‘greener’ place.

A PTA (Parent, Teacher Association) will be created where, within regular, half-termly meetings parents can help to organise events and activities for both families and staff to enjoy, raise issues suggest solutions and discuss ideas.

A Parental Post-Box will become available, where Academy matters, concerns or queries can be posted, anonymously if desired.  This will be placed within the foyer, easily reached without entering the security door.

Parents and carers will be asked to complete a questionnaire; the results of which will allow the Academy to understand areas which are working well and those which need to be addressed.  The success of using questionnaires in this way depends upon the return percentage.  Therefore, it would be much appreciated if completed forms can be returned as soon as possible.

Communication and support are the foundations of a good partnership.  Together, we can help your child to succeed.
